According to WTVR, a working committee formed to examine the potential consequences of legalizing cannabis in Virginia has just released their conclusions. Should the state legalize the plant, the study offers the group's recommendations.
Healthcare professionals, community leaders, policy experts, and members of Governor Ralph Northam's administration make up the Virginia Marijuana Legalization Work Group. The group includes the state attorney general, a State Police captain, agency commissioners, the head of Virginia NORML, and other activists, according to Marijuana Moment.
It was established earlier this year at the request of parliamentarians as part of the debate over cannabis legalization. This came as a condition of the General Assembly's approval of the decriminalization legislation.
Furthermore, the report was issued just two weeks after Northam said that he will advocate for recreational marijuana legalization in Virginia. "We will establish new measures to protect the environment," Northam said.
